Musical Axioms

Give a minor seventh to a ⑤ that returns to the ①. This seventh cannot rise, but must resolve by falling to the third of the ①.

Give a diminished fifth to a ⑦ that rises to the ①. This diminished fifth cannot rise, but must also resolve by falling to the third of the ①.

Give an augmented sixth to a ♭⑥ that descends to the ⑤. This augmented sixth should rise to the octave of the ⑤.

Give an augmented fourth to a ① that falls to the ⑦, or to a ④ that falls to the third of the same [①]. This augmented fourth should rise to the sixth above the ⑦. But when you place [an augmented fourth] above the ④, it should rise to the sixth above the ③.

The augmented fourth rises directly to the ⑤, for the augmented fourth is none other than the ⑦ [in the key] of the ⑤.
