Disjunct Motion of the Thirds of Chords

§ 26. — 1) The thirds of chords, moving melodically by a fourth or a fifth, may occur in the connections of the chords of the first and fourth degrees and of the first and fifth degrees in root position.

2) The harmonic connection is obligatory.

3) After the disjunct motion, proceed in the opposite direction by the interval of a second or a third:
