Melodic Motion Formed in the Bass by the Thirds of Chords

§ 27. — 1) It arises from the connection of two chords of the sixth: of the first and fourth degrees, and of the first and fifth degrees.

2) The harmonic connection is obligatory.

3) After the leap of a fourth or a fifth, proceed in the opposite direction by the interval of a second or a third:
